SANC FAQ

  • Why aren’t Korean soybeans used?

    Accordion toggle

Soybeans make up the majority of production costs, but the supply rate of Korean soybeans is less than 5%, and their price is more than four times higher than that of imported soybeans.

If this cost were fully reflected in the product price, items like soy sauce or soybean paste would exceed KRW 7,000 per kilogram.

SANC uses imported soybeans that are non-GMO grade A, carefully selected to ensure only clean, high-quality beans are used.

  • Are imported soybeans used?

    Accordion toggle

Yes, since the domestic supply rate of Korean soybeans is under 5%, we primarily use soybeans from the United States.
These soybeans are directly imported from the government’s Agricultural Products Distribution Corporation and supplied to manufacturers.
This ensures the use of clean, non-GMO grade A soybeans from the U.S., making them safe and dependable for consumption.

However, for customers who prefer tofu made with Korean soybeans, SANC also offers Sengmyongmul Tofu made from domestically grown beans, available for purchase.

  • Are no preservatives used at all?

    Accordion toggle

Sengmyongmul Tofu does not contain any chemical substances and is preservative-free, relying on refrigerated distribution to maintain freshness and safety.

  • The tofu hasn’t spoiled even after a week. Were any other additives used?

    Accordion toggle

Sengmyongmul Tofu does not contain added preservatives.
As a delicate product, tofu typically spoils after being left at room temperature for several days, and during warmer seasons, it may spoil even before the expiration date if distribution conditions are poorly managed.

Despite its sensitivity, Sengmyongmul Tofu can maintain a shelf life of up to six days without preservatives.
This is made possible by the use of sterile-grade drinking water (first-class groundwater), carefully selected and refined ingredients, hygienic production facilities, and heat treatment technology that minimizes the intrusion of microorganisms during manufacturing.

However, if any of these conditions are not properly controlled, the tofu can spoil quickly.
Conversely, when all conditions are well maintained, the tofu may remain fresh even beyond the six-day shelf life.

  • Can the tofu be used directly out of the packaging, or does it need to be rinsed?

    Accordion toggle

The water used in the packaging meets hygienic drinking water standards, so you can use the tofu immediately after discarding the water.

However, to ensure maximum freshness, we recommend rinsing the tofu 1–2 times under running water before use, as some nutrients and beneficial microorganisms may develop naturally during distribution.

  • How is the product shipped, and which courier service is used?

    Accordion toggle

Deliveries are made via Korea Post.
Refrigerated items are delivered fresh in an ice box with ice packs included.
You should refrigerate the items immediately after receipt to ensure freshness.

※ The courier service may be changed to CJ Logistics depending on Korea Post’s circumstances.

  • Is there no delivery on Mondays?

    Accordion toggle

Refrigerated items are shipped only from Monday to Friday, and receipt is possible only from Tuesday to Saturday.
Due to the nature of refrigerated items, delivery is not possible on holidays or the day before holidays.
